Dr. Windsor  Finishes Co-Chairing the
National Academy of Practice in Optometry

Dr. Richard L Windsor, senior low vision specialist with the Low Vision Centers of Indiana has  just finished his term as Co-Chairman of the National Academy of Practice in Optometry.

The National Academy of Practice is composed of ten academies including Medicine, Optometry, Osteopathic Medicine, Dentistry, Psychology, Pharmacy, Nursing, Veterinary Medicine, Social Work and Podiatric Medicine.

The NAP emphasizes public and interdisciplinary health issues and serves a role as health care consultants to Congress.  In 2001, Dr. Windsor was appointed “Distinguished Practitioner” of the National Academy of Practice. Dr. Windsor became only the 4th Indiana doctor of optometry to be appointed a “Distinguished Practitioner” by the NAP. 

Dr. Windsor is also the 1999 recipient of the American Optometric Association’s National Optometrist of the Year, an award given only thirty-six times in history and the 1996 Indiana Optometrist of the Year.
